Here is the story: the parking ticket was paid when I got it. I was recently checking my credit report to see how much I would qualify for a home loan and to see my credit score. I found out that the ticket was reported to collection, and that it was showing on my credit report. It looks like the payment got to them a few days late, so they imposed an extra $50 penalty on it. So it shows the total, the part that was paid and the unpaid $50. It is really ruining my credit and I am really mad because they never contacted me about the extra $50 and that is how I found out. I've been searching for some non-profit credit counseling places on google, but there are so many of them and I don't who is real and who is not. This is why I am asking here and I would appreciate if the admin would leave this till tomorrow morning so I could get some useful answers, because I moved to a new place I don't have internet at home yet to check for replies in the next few hours. TIA for any tips, advice, links you may provide, I'm sure someone has the perfect answer, as usual. Is there a way to erase it completely after paying it, or is it going to stay for 7 years so the city of San Diego is happy for ruining my credit.
